The African American Art Exhibition at Actors Theatre is one of the oldest and leading national exhibitions of its kind. Now in its 23rd year, this annual exhibition celebrates African American history, culture and art, and has become a popular highlight of the region’s visual arts scene. Yearly, more than 20,000 arts patrons view the exhibit.
On February 3rd, 2017, Actors Theatre will host a reception to honor the artists who were selected to participate in this year’s exhibition. This free reception will include an awards ceremony where the artists are awarded merit prizes, including the Brown-Forman Corporation purchase award. This year’s exhibition was juried by renowned artist, Kevin Cole.
